Come to the Manger

Many people seek many things but few realize the importance of the manger.  Luke 2:7 states, "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."  This manger holds significance.

The manger was a place where animals came to eat.  This was where they received food in order to receive nourishment and strength.   This manager was a place of safety.  It was a place where the animals knew that they could come to and receive life-giving sustenance.

The angels invited the shepherds to the manger in Luke chapter two.  Just as the shepherds traveled to the manger, so must we travel to the manger.   Not to see a "baby Jesus" or the Christ child because the Christ child is no longer a child but the believer's High Priest.  But if people would only go to the manger there they would Christ Who is our substance.  He is the Bread of Life (John 6:48).  Who ever is hungry for more of God needs to travel to the manger this Christmas season.  If anyone is lacking joy, must come to the manger and Christ will give them joy.  The angelic message to the shepherds was that of joy.  If anyone is experiencing fear, they will find peace at the manger because Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).  Whatever anyone needs or desires this Christmas season can be found at the manger.  At the manger is nourishment, peace, joy, and whatever they need.   Because Christ is everything that we could ever need and more.
