Hosea Chapters 1 through 3 Continued

“At no point did Hosea complain about the Lord’s providence in his life. He did not challenge or criticize God’s right to treat him as He did. Hosea was willing to be used of God in whatever way God deemed necessary. This meant embarrassment, the loss of pride, heartbreak, and going the second mile with an adulterous wife (Jack R. Riggs).”

Hosea was commanded to take a wife who would become a prostitute as an example of God's relationship with Israel. Hosea was to manifest God's patience and love. Some wonder if Gomer was already a prostitute when they got married or if she became unfaithful later. They think that it presents a moral dilemma. Would God really command his prophet to marry someone that, according to Deuteronomy 22:20 was supposed to be stoned?
Deuteronomy 22:20 “But if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin, 22:21 then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel, by playing the harlot in her father's house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you.”
Why would God instruct Hosea to do this?
“At no point did Hosea complain about the Lord’s providence in his life. He did not challenge or criticize God’s right to treat him as He did. Hosea was willing to be used of God in whatever way God deemed necessary. This meant embarrassment, the loss of pride, heartbreak, and going the second mile with an adulterous wife.”
Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isa 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Priests were not allowed to marry prostitutes.  Le 21:7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

2:7-16:  After armegeddon

Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
Ro 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
2:16—Ishi & baali
       Ishi means salvation
       Baali means lord over me
3:2
15 pieces of silver = ½ the price of a slave
Ex 21:32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
